Stanley Park Open 2008

the No.1
player in BC.
In the Women's Open, American Ruxandra Dumitrescu, former top junior player in New York, won her first title on Canadian soil, beating Trudie Du Toit,
a local favourite 6-3, 7-6. Ruxandra later teamed up with Sinziana Chis
to capture the
Women's Open Doubles title by beating
sixteen-year-olds Carolina Abello and Anett Ferenczi-Bako in the
final 6-1, 6-0.

Patrick Flint, left, and Nick Coutts, both from Victoria. They spent last winter in Australia playing on the pro circuit. Patrick, with his big serve, beat Geoffrey Hernandez,
second-seed, in three sets in the quarterfinals of the Men's Open
but lost in the semis to Jeremy Salvo. Patrick (with partner Nick) later got his revenge by
beating Jeremy (with partner
Henry) in the doubles in a very close three set match, in the
semis. Nick , the 2006 singles finalist, and Patrick couldn't succeed in winning
their third Stanley Park Open Doubles title and lost to Kris Santoso and Graeme Kassautzki
in the finals.

Max Brown seen drinking lots of milk! Dairy Farmers of
Canada is sponsoring tennis through out Canada, and milk was readily
available for free in the Stanley Park Open. Max
was the oldest player in the Open events. He teamed up with Kelly McNabney
to beat Jeremy Salvo and Sinziana Chis 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 to capture the Mixed Open Doubles title.

Ash Misquith, left, and Graeme Kassautzki. Ash lost to Jeremy Salvo in quarterfinals and Graeme to Henry Choi in semis. Graeme was the top player in BC in both 2005 and 2006. He has just finished his third year at
the University of New Mexico.

Men's Open Doubles.
