This is Grant Connell
Grant Connell, Tournament Director of the 2006 Rogers Cup in Toronto, is shown, above, with
the American duo of Bob and Mike Bryan, winners of the doubles title, and, left, with World
No. 1 Roger Federer of Switzerland, who was triumphant in singles.
Grant, a native of North Vancouver, was ranked as high as World No. 1 in doubles and
captured 22 ATP Tour titles. He was a three-time finalist at Wimbledon and competed in two
Olympics. Grant retired from the Tour in 1997and was soon inducted into the B.C. Sports
Hall of Fame.
Grant has served as executive director of Tennis B.C where he made a lasting contribution to the
development of tennis in the province. The Grant Connell Tennis Centre, a North Vancouver tennis
facility, is named after him.
Grant is a member of the Tennis Canada board of directors and serves as captain of the
Canadian Davis Cup team.
He now lives in West Vancouver and taken on a new career as a realtor,
bringing the same dedication to helping his real estate clients that he
has brought to the tennis world.
